N.Lichtig, Dark Matter two-sided, ink, charcoal, print on canvas, variable sizes, since 2018 — ongoing

The paintings of the Dark Matter series can be presented both ways - front or back. As in all of my works, the accent is put on the process of making: printed canvas
are impregnated with ink, integrating the canvas both sides in a non-homogenous way, making appear structures that have similarities with cosmic space and the nature of dark matter.

Dark matter is a hypothetical category of matter that accounts for the properties of fluctuations throughout the cosmos. As dark matter does not interact with baryonic matter ('ordinary' matter'), it is very difficult to be detected. However, the presence of dark matter in the Universe is thought to be at least five times greater than that of ordinary matter. According to a theory, dark matter exists essentially in two forms: in a 'condensed' form - stars, black holes - and in a 'diluted' form as gas, mainly hydrogen.
